ASMS File Needed During Installing Windows Operating System
This is about my exerience that I never got before in installing Windows Operating system. I just got a warning that there is a file called ASMS file. This warning will appear when there is bad communication between your cd rom and your computer. Surfing on internet then tru to apply one by one way I found there have been done, but all of them were not working until I found a way that really work for me.
What were they? They were :
The first way that adviced by most people is to solve this problem over command promt by hit Shift + F10. then type regedit.exe and enter. Here are the steps that you can try to solve a problem state that there must be ASMS in your Windows:
1. When you receive the error message, press SHIFT+F10 to start a command session.
2. Type regedit.exe, and then press ENTER.
3. Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
4. On the File menu, click Load Hive, and then load %Windir%\System32\Config\System.sav.
5. When you are prompted to specify a name, type Test.
6. Locate and then click the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Test\ControlSet1\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
7. Delete the UPPERFILTERS and LOWERFILTERS registry keys.
8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the other ControlSet# keys under the Test hive.
9. Click File, and then click Exit to quit Registry Editor.
10. If the path in the error message is the correct drive letter for the CD-ROM drive, click OK to continue the Setup program.
11. If you receive the error message again, the Setup program cannot correctly read from the CD-ROM drive, or the path information is incorrect. In this case, restart your computer and let the Setup program resume.
Unfortunately this way was not working for me. It make me frustrated since I have to operate my computer as soon as possible until I try to check my computer booting and I found there is not CD ROM there to be booted. This is the best way to check about your device booting. Firstly you have to make sure that your CD ROM is detected during booting process. If can’at find it check the connectivity or jump you CD ROM if needed.
Set you CD ROM to be booted as the first priority. Then restart your computer. By this way booting process will check to CD ROM first then execute what contained inside. By this way your Windows CD will be read and the installation can be continued.
